The Summer King
The Pittsburgh Opera recently staged the world premiere—the first in the company’s 78-year history—of The Summer Kingabout the baseball legend Josh Gibson. Pete’s Big TVs recently supported the opera, with LED screens and media servers. The production, which is a co-production with the Michigan Opera Theatre, featured a scenic design by Andrew Lieberman; a video design by Darrel Maloney; and lighting design by Robert Wierzel. PBTV provided As a part of Lieberman’s scenic design, there are risers simulating bleachers with three large high-resolution LED screens made up of digiLED MK7 7mm LED modules mounted behind them providing large canvases for Maloney’s beautiful content to support the production. The Parisian Woman
PBTV provided LED support for the Broadway production of The Parisian Women, a new play written by Beau Willlimon with a video design by Darrel Maloney. He used digiLED Lightslice and digiFLEX products to create a lightweight, semi-transparent scenic wall which was flown in during scene changes. Learn more about this project here.
Linda
Pete’s Big TVs provided digiLED MK7 7mm LED modules for Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of Linda. Selected by Scenic Designer Walt Spangler, PBTV supplied the 10’ x 10’ screen and supported the integration of LED video products into the design. Click here for more on this project.
Enemies, A Love Story
Pete’s Big TVs provided Florida’s Palm Beach Opera and its scenic designer with their first LED video wall experience for the world premiere of the opera, Enemies, A Love Story, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
The production used 259 GTek 15mm tiles to create a 60’ wide by 12’ high video wall. The content included scenic video clips and opera text - though the show was sung in English. Click here for more on this project.
Dreamgirls
After a break from its 2013 world tour, the Broadway musical tour of Dreamgirls returned to the stage in March of 2016. Replacing the set are Pete’s Big TVs’ 400 digiLED MC15 LED video panels in three screens, which track and fly in different configurations.
Lightswitch’s Howard Werner, media designer of the content and show system, said that no other set exists besides the MC15 LED screens and they appear in 90 percent of the show.
Live action also helps create the content, with a live camera feed through the d3 (now known as disguise)system for two numbers in the show. Click here for more on this project.
